Programme: Recovery and Resilience Plan

For decades, Bulgarian composers, lyricists, arrangers and performers, who created musical products at a very high level, did not have the opportunity due to the language barrier and political restrictions from the Cold War era to present their work on the free European and world music market. This also applies to many works created after 1990 until our membership in the European Union, due to financial constraints and the lack of a national cultural policy in this area. The authors of this project take up the challenge of re-issuing ten of these eternal Bulgarian songs with a poetic translation in English (in accordance with the genre and direction of the songs, some of them will be presented in French and Spanish), a new arrangement, according to the style of each song, digital sound recording by professional singers and musicians, shooting a music video for selected songs, releasing an album to be presented and promoted on European and global music platforms, presented live in a series of concerts on European stages and festivals and provided free of charge to Bulgarian cultural institutes and embassies in the countries of the European Union and around the world, with the aim of presenting modern Bulgarian culture in the field of popular music from the second half of the 20th century to foreign audiences, as well as presenting it in prestigious European radio stations and television programs. The music and video products created under the project will be accompanied by a print and online publication that will tell the story of each song and introduce its authors in an engaging style. Thus, for the first time, a directed effort will be made to acquaint the European public with the work of a number of significant Bulgarian artists who created masterpieces of pop music, which have not yet been published in European languages ​​and are virtually unknown to world pop culture.
