Programme: Rural Development Programme

The current project is aimed at restoration, restoration, repair with strengthening, reconstruction and KRRE of the church "Assumption of the Blessed Virgin" - Gotse Delchev. It achieves:
- restoration of the architectural - construction and aesthetic qualities of the building - immovable cultural heritage of national importance in exterior and interior.
- preservation of the original architectural and construction structure and building materials, as a historical substance while removing only the damaging effects.
- creating a long-term and favorable status for the continued existence of a complex site.
- fragmented reconstruction, strengthening of the roof structure, overhaul of the roof coverings and the drainage system.
- conservation and restoration of the iconostasis, proskinitaria, hierarch's throne, ceilings and balcony railing.

The decision to build this impressive temple was made in the 1920s. The building permit was issued in 1830, and construction began in 1833. The temple was consecrated in 1838, but finishing work continued until 1841. Architecturally, the Church of the Assumption is a three-nave pseudo-basilica with an apse to the east and a narthex to the west. The central nave is separated from the sides by five pairs of columns. Initially, the porch was open, and there was a shed on the south wall. Subsequently, the church building underwent some alterations. In 1904 a bell tower was added to the western facade. The church has a massive construction, built of successive rows of stones and bricks. Late antique architectural elements were also used in the masonry - capitals and columns from an early Christian church.
The iconostasis has beautiful wood-carved elements: the royal doors, the circles and columns around the royal icons, the frame of the "Tablecloth" and the wreath on top. The bishop's throne and the proskinitaria are masterfully carved. The icons in the church were painted in the period 1846-1862 by Dim. Molerov and S. Georgiev.
