The current project is aimed at investments in the construction of fire protection infrastructure - mineralized strips in order to improve the protection from fires of the forests owned by the municipality of Kostenets. The territory of the municipality is classified as having a high risk of forest fires.
With the implementation of the activities described above, a total of 957.80 hectares of forest territories owned by the municipality of Kostenets will be protected. A mineralized strip is an artificially constructed fire barrier, cleaned of all combustible materials up to the mineral soil layer.
The aim is to stop the spread of low-intensity fires and thus prevent damage to forests and increase their viability. The planned width of the mineralized strip is 4 m, the length - 4,283 m, a total area of 17,132 m2. The total area to be protected is 957.80 ha.
The construction of new mineralized strips is provided for in Chapter VI Planned forestry activities, item 9 Fire prevention in the Forestry Plan for the forest territories owned by the municipality of Kostenets for the period 2018-2028 approved by Order No. RD 05-25 of 29.06.2019 of the deputy director of the Regional Directorate of Forestry - Sofia.
The present project proposal also includes the activity of providing consulting services in regards with the implementation and reporting of the project.

Създаване на нови минерализовани ивици: Изпълнението на дейността е в съответствие с утвърдения Горскостопански план. Дейността обхваща изграждане на част от заложените в плана минерализовани ивиции, именно нова минерализована ивица с дължина 4 283 м., широчина 4 м.– обща площ от 17 123 м2. Имотите през които минава ивицата са собственост на община Костенец и са разположени в землището на село Костенец.
След реализацията на проектното предложение ще бъде предпазена площ от 957,80 ха. Площите предпазени от пожари са отбелязани на картата на противопожарните мероприятия и е приложен списък с описание на защитените територии.
