The Central European Food Congress (CEFOOD) is held every 2 years on a rotating basis in the countries of the Central European Initiative (CEI) and is organized with the support of the European Federation for Food Science and Technology (EFFoST). The Congress is a platform for sharing knowledge and promoting cooperation on various aspects of food, including production, storage and safety. CEFood congresses typically address topics such as food storage, cold chain management, food safety, quality, nutrition and the impact of food on consumer health. CEFood has been held in various locations, including Ljubljana (2002), Budapest (2004), Sofia (2006), Cavtat (2008), Bratislava (2010), Novi Sad (2012), Ohrid (2014), Kiev (2016), Sibiu (2018), Sarajevo (2021), Čatež ob Savi (2022) and Szeged (2024). The host of the congress in 2026 was determined by the decision of EFFoST to the University of Food Technologies – Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The University of Food Technologies (UFT) in Plovdiv has a rich history of over seventy years and remarkable traditions. It is one of the most important centers in Bulgaria in the field of food science and technology. Since its establishment, the university has been a national and regional center for the development of food science, technology and technology. Currently, training at UFT is carried out in the following main areas: food technology, biotechnology, tourism, hotel and restaurant management, public catering, industrial management, heating and cooling equipment, machinery and equipment for the food industry, computer systems and automation of production in the food industry. CEFOOD 2026 will present modern trends in the production of food and beverages, biotechnological products, equipment, technologies, culinary arts and others.
