The activity of “ZAI” JSC. involves the production of grinding and cutting discs for hand tools (angle grinders), as well as ceramic and bakelite bonded grinding wheels. The company’s production process is characterized by high energy intensity. The buildings and part of the equipment are depreciated and do not meet modern energy efficiency standards, resulting in high operating costs and heat losses. Under this project proposal, the company plans to implement the following energy efficiency and renewable energy measures to accelerate its transition towards climate neutrality: 1. Installation of 330 sq.m of energy-efficient insulated sandwich roof panels in the existing “Absorption” and “Tunnel Furnace” areas; 2. Replacement of outdated fluorescent lamps in the “Absorption,” “Refrigeration,” and Administrative Building areas with 28 energy-saving linear lighting fixtures; 3. Replacement of existing lighting fixtures in the RMC section with 28 new high-efficiency industrial LED high-bay luminaires.; 4. Replacement of 85 sq.m of old single-layer metal window frames with new energy-efficient ones in the administrative building and the finished goods warehouse; 5. Installation of three air-to-water heat pumps to replace the existing pellet boiler in the administrative building. As a result of the implementation of the planned project activities, the following outcomes are expected: 1. Improved indoor microclimate and reduced energy consumption for heating, cooling, and lighting; 2. Increased competitiveness through lower electricity costs for lighting, heating, and air conditioning. Target groups of the project: 1. The enterprise as an economic unit, which will enhance its resource efficiency and reduce its energy intensity; 2. The employees of the company, who will benefit from improved working conditions and a better indoor environment.
