The project envisages the construction of an integrated photovoltaic power plant (PVPP) at MBAL “Zdraveto-2012” Ltd., including photovoltaic modules, a hybrid inverter, a battery energy storage system, and a mounting structure. All assets will be selected in full compliance with the minimum technical specifications and criteria set out in Annex 4.1 of the Call for Proposals. The capacity of the local energy storage system (batteries) will be determined in full accordance with the requirement that it shall be equal to or greater than the installed capacity of the photovoltaic panels. The entire amount of electricity generated will be used to cover the hospital’s own energy needs. The implementation of the system will lead to reduced electricity costs, greater energy independence and resilience of the hospital, as well as a decrease in carbon emissions. Through battery storage, the use of the generated energy will be optimized, peak loads will be reduced, and uninterrupted supply will be ensured – a critical condition for a healthcare facility. The project is fully compliant with the DNSH (Do No Significant Harm) principle, as it does not cause significant adverse impacts on the environment but instead contributes to reducing the use of fossil fuels. In addition, its implementation respects the horizontal principles of equality, non-discrimination, and sustainable development.
