“Sunny Garden” EOOD operates a SPA hotel in Varshets with 98 beds, a restaurant, a conference hall, and a developed SPA center with indoor and outdoor mineral pools. The hotel has high energy consumption – about 0.84 GWh annually – due to air conditioning, pools, laundry, kitchen, and common areas. Electricity expenses are significant and directly affect profitability. To achieve energy efficiency and sustainability, the company plans to build a 25.8 kW photovoltaic power plant (PVPP) and install 61.44 kWh battery storage. The expected annual PV production is approximately 33,500 kWh, covering 20–30% of the demand. The battery will ensure maximum utilization of daytime generation and transfer to evening peaks, increasing the share of self-consumption to 80–90%. The expected annual savings are 12,000 – 14,000 BGN, with a substantial reduction in dependence on the market. The investment will reduce CO₂ emissions by about 15 tons annually, equivalent to planting ~700 trees, and will support both national and European climate goals. The benefits are: Economic: reduced costs and greater financial resilience; Energy: security of supply and optimized consumption; Environmental: reduced carbon footprint; Social: improved working conditions and strengthened corporate image. Identified risks – market, technical, regulatory, financial, and operational – are addressed with measures such as warranties, monitoring, preventive maintenance, flexible adaptation, and use of grant support. The investment is sustainable in financial, technical, environmental, and social terms and is fully aligned with the objectives of procedure BG16RFPR001-2.004.
