Description

The single intervention site is Hotel “Bulgare”, Vratsa, operated by IMEX TRADE OOD. The hotel has 11 rooms and operates year-round, with continuous electrical loads (room air-conditioning, minibars, TVs, water heaters, lighting and heating in common areas) and periodic peaks (jacuzzi, laundry washers/dryers, ICT/routers). A PV system for self-consumption is already installed; however, the absence of storage limits self-consumption, increases evening grid imports and exposes the site to price volatility and power quality risks.

The project proposes the deployment of a local energy storage facility—a 120 kWh battery combined with a power conversion system (inverter/PCS) and EMS/BMS, fully integrated with the existing PV plant. The solution will: (i) increase self-consumption by charging from PV during the day and discharging during evening/morning peaks; (ii) perform peak-shaving of high loads (HVAC/DHW, laundry, pumps); (iii) stabilize power supply to ensure uninterrupted guest services; and (iv) enable zero-export operation where required. All components will be new and certified, meeting electrical and fire-safety requirements (AC/DC protections, selectivity, surge protection devices, emergency disconnects).

Expected results: commissioned 120 kWh battery + inverter integrated with the PV system for self-consumption; reduced grid imports and electricity costs; more reliable power supply and improved quality of service; lower indirect CO₂ emissions, contributing to the objectives of the Competitiveness and Innovations in Enterprises Programme 2021–2027. The project is fully compliant with Call BG16RFPR001-2.004 (Group 15: local energy storage with inverter), involves no fossil fuels, and adheres to the DNSH principle. The investment addresses a concrete, evidenced need of an energy-intensive hospitality site and ensures a sustainable, measurable energy, economic and environmental impact.
