Description

The annual "Bulgarian Grammar" forum is organized by the Institute for the Bulgarian Language in collaboration with Bulgarian language and literature departments at Bulgarian universities. It serves as a prestigious platform for presenting the latest achievements in Bulgarian language research and attracts scholars from Bulgaria and abroad.

The Thirteenth “Bulgarian Grammar” forum, to be held in 2026, is being organized jointly with the Department of Bulgarian Language at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” (https://ibl.bas.bg/trinadeseti-forum-vbalgarska-gramatikav/). The forum’s theme “Contemporary Research in Morphosyntax: Categories, Structures, and Comparative Perspectives” involves examining a wide range of issues related to the boundary between morphology and syntax, the main morphosyntactic categories and structures, as well as the comparative and universal aspects of morphosyntax.

In accordance with the objectives in Art. 2, para. 1 of LPSR, the forum serves to disseminate new scientific knowledge through theoretical and applied research on the Bulgarian language (including in relation to other languages) and to improve access to high quality research on the Bulgarian language.

The submitted articles fit into the scope of the main objective of the National Strategy for the Development of Scientific Research (2017 – 2030): Development and modernisation of scientific research and transformation of Bulgaria into an attractive centre for scientific research and development of new technologies. The research on the Bulgarian language emphasises its richness and specificity compared to other languages.

The Forum corresponds to the priorities of the National Strategy: sustainable restoration of the country's international position by creating opportunities for active co-operation with leading scientists from abroad, strengthening relations with leading language schools, and international visibility through the dissemination of results.
