Description

The International Symposium on Solubility Phenomena and Related Equilibrium Processes (ISSP) is an established international scientific forum. It is part of the activities of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). In 2026, the 22nd ISSP is organized in Sofia by the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Burgas State University (https://issp2026-igicsofia.uniburgas.bg/). The project aims to support the organization of the forum.
The scientific program covers fundamental studies of solubility under standard and extreme conditions and modern computer modeling approaches. To expand the scope of the symposium, applied studies in biological, pharmaceutical and environmental systems, industrial processes, as well as chemical synthesis of nanomaterials, including controlled crystallization and process optimization, have been added. .
The theme of the 22ISSP is in line with strategic objectives 1, 2 and 3 of the National Strategy for the Development of Scientific Research in the Republic of Bulgaria 2017–2030, aimed at improving the quality and international competitiveness of scientific research, strengthening the science-business relationship and developing human potential. In turn, the Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialization defines priority thematic areas such as Healthy Life Industry, Bioeconomy and Biotechnologies, Clean Technologies, Circular and Low-Carbon Economy and Mechatronics and Microelectronics. Research on solubility and equilibrium processes has direct application in each of these areas.
The expected results include the dissemination of new scientific knowledge, the creation of sustainable scientific partnerships and the increase of the international visibility and competitiveness of Bulgarian science. In addition, the expansion of the scope of the conference will contribute to attracting a wider range of international participants, including researchers from new scientific fields.
