Local Action Group Teteven develops its activities on the territory of Northern Bulgaria, occupying the southwestern parts of Lovech district (NUTS 3) and falling within the Northwestern planning region (NUTS 2). The territory of LAG Teteven covers all settlements of Teteven municipality, and its administrative borders entirely coincide with those of Teteven municipality. The territory is located away from the national and trans-European transport corridors, but at the same time it has very good communication links with them and with neighboring municipalities, which is favorable for its development. Structurally determining sectors for the local economy are industry, trade, tourism and agriculture. Timber harvesting and wood processing are traditional economic sectors for the territory. The 11 community centers, located in almost any of the settlements on the territory, are the main centers of cultural development and a factor for sustainable development and preservation of the spirituality of the population. By developing and implementing the Community-Led Local Development strategy, stakeholders and residents of the territory will work to achieve shared goals - developing the economy and improving the quality of life. The Community-Led Local Development Strategy (CLLDS) was developed after large number of meetings and discussions in the settlements of the territory. These meetings identified the strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats to the social and economic development of the territory. SWOT is the basis on which objectives and priorities are derived, the activities are formulated, the measures, that will lead to their achievement, selected. In the CLLDS the measurable indicators, which at each stage will show the degree of implementation of the strategy and the achievement of the added objectives are specified.
