Description

This strategy was prepared as a result of the needs of the local government and community to unite their efforts for sustainable development of the Petrich municipality by applying the "bottom-up" approach and actively involving citizens in the decision-making process and implementation of the LDS. The LAG-Petrich strategy covers the territory of the Petrich municipality-a border region with a diverse relief and favorable climate, with traditions in agriculture, good geographical location and transport access for the development of competitive small businesses, with the presence of natural resources, numerous cultural and historical monuments as a potential for the development of various types of tourism, cultural activities and festivals. The strategy complements the documents at the local, regional level and aims with small steps to contribute to the sustainable development of the Petrich municipality, to improve the quality of life of local people and to create employment and decent pay. Measures are envisaged to improve access and quality of public services and infrastructure, measures to support agriculture and related processing of agricultural products in search of added value for the territory, measures - aimed at all areas of micro business outside agriculture and measures building a sense of community - cooperation in various forms. The LAG Strategy has been approved and is considered by the local community as an opportunity to revitalize the territory, to support cooperation of stakeholders in various areas, as well as to implement experimental and innovative projects for the region, by engaging the community itself in voluntary initiatives. The goal of the Strategy is to achieve a tangible and significant effect on local people and the building of a unified community that is actively involved in solving local problems. The Strategy implementation team is motivated to use all tools to promote the CLLD approach and revitalize the territory.
