Implementation of the project " Data Space Interoperability Enabler" within the call HORIZON-WIDERA-2023-ACCESS-02 of the European Union Research and Innovation FP "Horizon Europe", evaluated and highly rated "above the thresholds" by the EC.

Data Spaces are considered as the main instrument to realize the EU Data Strategy and the EU Single Data Market to promote data driven innovation, growth and competitiveness.  GATE Centre of Excellence is the main catalyst of national endeavors to use and share data in industrial and public domains and the initiator of the first Bulgarian Data Space in Urban domain. DataTwin project is a natural step in GATE’s endeavors, as with the help of advanced partners INSIGHT and SINTEF, it will place the grounds for further development of Data Spaces in Bulgaria, and their integration and interoperability with the common EU Data Spaces. DataTwin will introduce one-of-a-kind know-how transfer framework, will elaborate a visionary scientific strategy, will implement challenging research projects to create innovations in domains of significant social and economic impact and will produce advanced learning and training methods for enhancing the overall research capacity of GATE in Data Space interoperability domain. Further, specific policy recommendation will be developed for improving the knowledge of the Bulgarian public institutions responsible for the Data Spaces development and funding. The results of DataTwin will be exploited in Norway, Ireland, Bulgaria and EU, contributing to building a sustainable innovation ecosystem of data-based governance and economy, increasing the capacity for data creation and analysis in the public sector and support the creation of sectoral Data Spaces (falling into Bulgarian Smart Specialization Strategy priority areas), including open data to enable innovative start-ups and SMEs to develop advanced data driven solutions
