The project proposal aims to obtain science-intensive services for the implementation of gene fusion analysis in the activities of MDL Cibalab EOOD in order to include a new innovative product in the services provided by the company.

MDL Cibalab EOOD is a medical diagnostic laboratory with many years of practice in the country. It provides a wide range of tests for private and corporate clients - haematology, biochemistry, immunology, hormonal analysis, allergology, microbiology, parasitology, molecular pathology, etc. The company wishes to expand its product portfolio by including a new innovative product series - oncology tests for various types of cancer. These tests will provide diagnostic, prognostic and predictive information for the selection of individualized treatment for a number of malignant diseases. The tests will examine both acquired (somatic) gene and extragenic changes, as well as hereditary (germinative) gene changes in cancers.

For this purpose, MDL Cibalab EOOD will assign 2 services to external supplier/s:
1) Development of a pipeline of software algorithms for gene fusion analysis, through which the software will identify gene abnormalities in patient samples by detecting gene fusions from large data sets (big data);
2) Validation of the results from genetic laboratory tests to ensure that the software developed in the former service achieved the set goals and, therefore, the oncology tests offered are at the required level of quality and reliability. This will be done by conducting parallel oncology testing in an established laboratory with the relevant scientific and expert capacity in the field of precision oncology and genomic medicine.
