The consortium of the CoE in Informatics and ICT includes: Institute of Information and Communication Technologies - BAS (Leading Partner), Institute of Mathematics and Informatics - BAS, Institute of Mechanics - BAS, National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography - BAS, Plovdiv University "Paisii Hilendarski", Medical University - Sofia and University of Library Studies and Information Technologies. All partners are established leaders in informatics and ICT with complementary expertise, aligned with the priorities of ISIS, human capacity of highly qualified scientists and specialists and potential to impact the development of the country.
The digitization of the key socio-economic areas combined with the application of the infrastructure for advanced computing and AI tools in the environment of Big Data have a very high potential for the development of Bulgaria. A key challenge for the Center is the further development of innovation capacity and acceleration of the transfer of top scientific and applied results and their implementation in socially significant applications and innovations.
Achieving highest level results, publishing them in journals in Q1, combined with a TRL between 3 and 7 is in line with PRIDS' priority of competitiveness and sustainability. The model of operation and management of the infrastructure will provide effective training and consultancy services aimed at the support needs of underdeveloped regions.
Planned acquisition of new and maintenance and upgrading of existing equipment and software are carefully balanced. The potential for joint projects with enterprises has a very good sectorial and regional coverage.
The overall activity of the Center is aimed at further development of the established leading research and development complex with a unique research infrastructure for digital transformation and high-performance computing, which is able to solve current problems of high scientific and societal importance.
