Description

The activity of “ELIA” JSC is in the field of electrical construction and production of electrical equipment for the modernization of enterprises for generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, as well as for companies in the raw materials, processing and other industrial sectors in Bulgaria and abroad.

This project proposal aims to implement measures for energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy, supporting the company’s transition to climate neutrality:
1. Construction of a 50 kW photovoltaic power plant for self-consumption with a local energy storage system, to partially cover the electricity needs of the production process.
2. Purchase of a screw compressor with inverter control. Currently, compressed air is produced by a piston compressor without inverter control, whose electricity consumption is about twice as high as that of a modern rotary compressor with inverter control.
3. Purchase of a new energy-efficient refrigerated air dryer to operate with the planned 22 kW screw compressor.

Expected results:
1. The installation of in-house renewable energy will enhance the enterprise’s resilience and production security during outages and unplanned power interruptions. It will also allow optimization of electricity consumption by reducing purchases from the unregulated market.
2. Energy consumption for compressed air generation will be reduced by 50%.
3. The project investment will directly lower the production cost of the company’s products through reduced electricity expenses. Production costs per unit will decrease, resulting in lower overall cost and enabling the company to offer more competitive prices.
