The project proposal of “BULMEBEL DI” Ltd. aims to improve the energy efficiency and sustainability of the operation of the tourist complex “Bella Terra”, located in the village of Gostilitsa, Dryanovo Municipality, Gabrovo Region. The operation of the complex is entirely dependent on electricity, which is used for all processes – heating, cooling, water heating, lighting, operation of kitchen equipment, and the maintenance systems of the swimming pool and SPA area. This leads to high operating costs and increased dependence on fluctuations in energy prices and the stability of the electricity supply. The average daily consumption of the complex is about 300–340 kWh, and the annual consumption is approximately 115,000 kWh. To overcome these challenges, the project provides for the construction of a ground-mounted photovoltaic power plant (PVPP) for self-consumption, including a battery energy storage system. The photovoltaic system with inverter output power of 50 kW will supply a significant part (approximately 60%) of the complex’s annual energy consumption, with the generated electricity used entirely for own needs. The battery module will have a capacity equal to or greater than the system’s power, allowing the energy generated during the day to be accumulated and used during peak hours or in case of power outages, ensuring reliable and uninterrupted operation of all systems. The implementation of the project will lead to a reduction of operating costs by more than 30%, an increase in the energy efficiency and stability of the enterprise, as well as achieving greater independence from external suppliers. The project is fully consistent with the objectives of the procedure and with the principle of “Do No Significant Harm,” contributing to an increase in the share of energy from renewable sources for self-consumption, a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, and the sustainable development of the tourism sector and the regional economy.
