The project of Orpheus Hotel PLC aims to enhance energy efficiency and operational sustainability through the implementation of local energy storage systems (batteries) in combination with inverters. The investment addresses challenges related to high energy intensity and volatile electricity prices, while supporting the transition to climate neutrality and reducing the carbon footprint. The project will optimize energy consumption, reduce operational costs, and increase the hotel's energy independence, especially during peak hours and grid fluctuations. The storage systems will ensure balance and effective management of the energy produced by the existing photovoltaic power plant, overcoming the intermittency of renewable energy sources. The project aligns with national and European decarbonization policies and supports the long-term competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy. Main objectives: • Improve energy efficiency; • Optimize energy flows; • Reduce dependence on external energy suppliers; • Enhance the hotel’s environmental profile. Expected results: • Installation of battery systems with inverters; • Increased efficiency and reduced energy costs; • Contribution to Bulgaria’s national energy savings target for 2021–2030. Key activities: • Selection of a contractor in compliance with principles of sound financial management, transparency, and fair competition; • Delivery, installation, and commissioning of the systems; • Staff training for system operation; • Monitoring and analysis of achieved results. The energy storage systems (batteries) will contribute to balancing the output of Hotel Orpheus’s photovoltaic power plant and help overcome one of the key limitations of renewable energy sources—intermittent production.
