FACIT Ltd. is a medium-sized enterprise (SME), founded in 2007 and successor to Silwile Semiconductors, which continued the activities of the Institute of Microelectronics – Sofia. It is among the few Bulgarian companies providing the full cycle of design and testing of mixed-signal analog–digital integrated circuits (ASICs). Certified under EN ISO 9001:2015 by EUROCERT and a member of the National Instruments Alliance, FACIT is a recognised technological exporter in microelectronics (NACE 71.12), with over 90 % of revenue from the EU market. The company designs, measures, tests and verifies analog, digital and mixed circuits, electronic modules and printed boards. These processes require continuous use of high-precision testers with proprietary environments controlling temperature and voltage. Such energy-intensive operations generate up to 2.5 % of production costs and notable CO₂ emissions. With an average electricity price of 0.261 BGN/kWh (March 2025) and a 28 % fossil share in the national mix, FACIT faces high costs and price volatility. Without renewable investments, it risks losing competitiveness, as over 70 % of international clients demand sustainable partners under ESG criteria. The project foresees constructing a photovoltaic power plant (PVPP) of 60.72 kW, including solar panels, inverters and battery storage for energy accumulation and peak-load management. Total value: 165 593.76 BGN, of which up to 100 000 BGN (65 %) is grant funding under BG16RFPR001-2.004. Expected Results About 78 000 kWh/year of renewable electricity (1 300 h × 60.72 kW); Energy-cost reduction up to 65 %, payback < 5 years; CO₂ cut by 28 t/year, aligned with the Energy Efficiency Directive and EU climate-neutrality goals 2050; Better environmental profile and higher competitiveness. The project will ensure energy independence, lower costs and sustainable production, supporting the national and EU target of ≥ 27 % renewable energy share by 2030.
