The project of "VELAS" Ltd. is aimed at increasing the energy efficiency and sustainability of production activities through the purchase and implementation of local energy storage facilities (batteries) in combination with inverter/s to an already built photovoltaic system for own consumption. "VELAS" Ltd. is an enterprise with established positions in the "Production of bread and bakery products" sector (KID 10.71). The company produces a wide range of bakery products, successfully combining Bulgarian traditions in bread production with modern technologies and high quality standards. Production is continuous and is associated with high electricity consumption, especially in the operation of bakery lines, aspiration systems and cooling and fermentation equipment. The photovoltaic power plant, built entirely for its own needs, provides part of the daily energy consumption, but due to the lack of storage batteries, it is not fully used. During the day, excess amounts of electricity are often produced that cannot be utilized, while in the evening and at night, when the production facilities continue to operate, the company is forced to draw energy from the external network at a higher price. The implementation of the project will implement a modern energy storage and management system that will allow the accumulation of the energy produced by the photovoltaics during the day and its use at night, entirely for its own consumption. This will lead to a reduction in electricity costs, increased energy independence and optimization of the load on the production installations. The project will also have an environmental effect by reducing carbon emissions and increasing the share of renewable sources in the energy balance.
