POWERMARK Ltd. is one of the leading companies in the field of distribution of fast-moving packaged foods for immediate consumption. It was established in the spring of 1999 in Sofia. Currently, the company employs 94 staff members, located across four regional centers in Bulgaria. The company covers the entire country with direct distribution of deliveries to retail outlets. It operates over 60 vehicles, of which 10 are electric. In the company's warehouse facilities, products that are particularly sensitive to temperature conditions are stored. The temperature regime must be maintained through refrigeration and reliable climate control of the storage areas. The distribution of products within the country is carried out by a large fleet of vehicles, some of which are electric and are charged at stations within the company’s premises. Ensuring a climate-controlled environment in case of potential power outages is achieved temporarily through UPS systems; however, these do not guarantee sustainable climate control during longer power interruptions. Due to the nature of the operations, the charging of electric vehicles takes place during nighttime hours, which affects energy costs, especially during peak hours of high energy demand. The current project proposes the construction of a photovoltaic power plant with battery storage, with an installed capacity of 56 kW. The plant will be built on the roof structure of the warehouse facility. It will store the energy produced during hours when the energy price from the supplier is relatively low, and will supply power to the company’s consumers in the warehouse when the energy price exceeds a certain threshold, beyond which energy costs become unreasonably high.
