Grig Consult Ltd. is a company that specializes in the field of business consulting related to processes in agriculture. Helping our clients realize their projects, we found that the problem of pollination of plants in closed spaces is not solved in the best and cheapest way. Greenhouses and other enclosed spaces lack natural pollinators such as bees, butterflies or other insects that are normally responsible for pollinating plants outdoors. This lack encourages the need for hand pollination to ensure that plants can produce fruit and seeds. It allows more precise control over the pollination process. This is particularly important for the production of hybrids or when high fruit quality is required. Farmers can determine exactly when and how plants are pollinated, which improves yield and quality of the final product. This is a commonly used method because it provides predictability and efficiency. Some greenhouse plants have specific pollination requirements that are difficult to achieve naturally indoors.
In open spaces, seasonal relocation of beehives is practiced, but this is expensive and endangers the lives of the bees.
The goal of our project is to develop an innovative plant pollinating drone bee to help growers solve this critical process. Our robot will be able to selectively pollinate plants contact and non-contact, will work in an autonomous mode and will have functionalities for smart monitoring of plants - for diseases, crop prediction, and transmission of data to control parameters such as water, light, nutrients.
The project falls within the Informatics and ICT thematic area and will be implemented up to the level of technological readiness TRL 7 – a prototype demonstrated in an operational environment.
In the project proposal, we will prove that our innovation is radical on a global level.
