The project proposal of “SoftUni Buditel” (buditel.softuni.bg) is focused on the construction of a photovoltaic power plant (PV system) combined with a battery storage facility and inverters. The main objective is to increase the school’s energy efficiency, reduce its carbon footprint, and optimize electricity costs, thereby ensuring sustainable development and supporting its vision of being a “school of the future.” Due to the specifics of its activities – the continuous operation of computer labs, digital classrooms, and specialized training facilities – the school has a significantly higher electricity consumption compared to traditional educational institutions. This creates a financial burden and increases its dependency on volatile energy markets. By investing in renewable energy, the school will be able to generate and store its own clean electricity, reducing external dependence while ensuring financial stability. The savings achieved will be reinvested in improving the quality of education, modernizing the school’s infrastructure, and supporting innovative learning programs.Beyond the direct economic and environmental impact, the project also carries a strong educational and social dimension. The installed PV system will serve as a demonstration site and a practical example for students, enriching their learning experience in areas such as technology, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development. In this way, the project not only contributes to energy transition and climate neutrality but also fosters ecological awareness and responsible citizenship among young people. Through this initiative, SoftUni Buditel will position itself as a pioneering educational institution in Bulgaria that successfully integrates renewable energy solutions into its infrastructure and educational mission, setting an example of how digital innovation and green transformation can go hand in hand for the benefit of students, the local community, and the environment.
