The project proposal of “Muroll Bulgaria” Ltd. is aimed at improving the company’s energy efficiency and competitiveness through the implementation of an energy-efficient technology based on renewable energy sources. The investment foresees the construction of a photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of 55 kW for self-consumption, combined with an energy storage system corresponding to and covering the full capacity of the plant. The system will be used solely for the company’s own needs, will not be subject to commercial energy trading, and will supply electricity to the production processes of Muroll Bulgaria Ltd. The project aims to reduce the company’s energy dependence, optimize operational costs, and lower its carbon footprint in the production of paper and cardboard products—a process characterized by high energy intensity. By utilizing solar energy and local storage, the company will achieve more stable and predictable energy consumption, ensuring uninterrupted production and better resource management. The introduction of a renewable energy source will result in lower energy intensity, higher resource efficiency, and a more sustainable business environment, in line with national and European goals for energy transition and climate neutrality. The investment complies with the “do no significant harm” principle regarding environmental protection and supports the achievement of national targets in the field of energy efficiency. The project proposal is also aligned with the principles of equality and equal opportunities for all. As a result of the project’s implementation, Muroll Bulgaria Ltd. will achieve significant energy savings, increase its competitiveness, and create conditions for long-term sustainable growth.
