METRON EAD is one of the leading Bulgarian furniture companies, founded in 1994, with its own production base and specializing in the design, development, manufacture, and installation of furniture. METRON EAD has a machine park with high-performance and technological machines. In recent years, the company has had serious problems with sudden and prolonged power outages, which have caused many negative consequences such as missed delivery deadlines, production and economic losses. The company also faces a number of challenges related to increased energy intensity and unstable electricity prices. This leads to high operating costs and reduced predictability and competitiveness in the long term. To address these issues, METRON EAD plans to use energy from renewable energy sources, which it will obtain from the planned construction of a photovoltaic power plant with an installed capacity of 100 kW, combined with batteries with a capacity of 250 kWh. The energy produced will be intended solely for its own consumption. Analyses show that the system will be able to cover a significant portion of annual electricity consumption, thereby reducing dependence on the grid and stabilizing energy costs. The batteries will allow excess energy to be stored and used during periods of lower electricity production. The system will provide electricity when it is not supplied by the grid, resulting in a continuous production process, fulfilled orders, and satisfied customers. The implementation of the project will improve energy efficiency and increase the competitiveness of the company through the use of renewable energy sources. The project will contribute to reducing the carbon footprint and the sustainable use of resources in accordance with the principles of a low-carbon economy, thereby contributing to climate change mitigation.
