The project envisages replacing the outdated and inefficient equipment for cooling and heating at the site "Ice Rink - Plovdiv" with two highly efficient reversible air-to-water heat pumps, operating with environmentally friendly refrigerant R32. The current system includes an air-cooled chiller Trane RTAB220 (EER ≈ 2.5, R407C) and a diesel boiler UNICAL ELLPREX 510, which lead to high energy costs, low efficiency and significant CO₂ emissions. The new 2 heat pumps have SEER ≥ 4.4 and SCOP ≥ 3.7, meet the requirements of Appendix 4.1, item 2 "Heat pumps" and allow simultaneous cooling and heating without burning fuel. The integrated system for intelligent control and remote monitoring provides constant control, reporting and proof of the effect of the investment. The project is expected to reduce energy consumption for cooling by about 30%, 100% elimination of diesel fuel and reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 20–25 t per year, while maintaining full functionality of the facility. Energy costs will be reduced by 25–35%, and the new system will ensure higher reliability and sustainability during seasonal operation. With the implementation of the project, AST SERVICE EOOD will switch to modern, electrified and low-carbon technology, thus reducing its carbon footprint and contributing to the objectives of the Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises Program 2021–2027, aimed at increasing energy efficiency and transitioning to a sustainable economy.
