"Ergodesign" Ltd. - Ruse is a manufacturing enterprise with main activity under code C31.09 "Manufacture of other furniture". The company has been operating on the Bulgarian market since 1996, with two production lines (cabinet and upholstered furniture) and a modern technological base. The project proposal is aimed at increasing energy efficiency and reducing emissions by replacing an existing coal-fired solid fuel boiler with an air-to-water heat pump system with a thermal capacity of 198 kW for heating 1,800 m² of production and auxiliary areas. The new system will operate with supply temperatures tailored to the installation, with adaptive power control and high seasonal efficiency, reducing local emissions of PM10/PM2.5, SO₂ and NOₓ, as well as CO₂ by switching from coal-fired solid fuel to an air-to-water heat pump. The project thematically falls into sector C31.09 under the NKID-2008 and directly serves the energy needs of production. The largest energy consumption is associated with ensuring a stable temperature regime for heating the production premises, as the current use of coal leads to high operating costs and significant air pollution. The implementation of an air-to-water heat pump aims to reduce specific energy consumption, predictability of costs, reduction of emissions and improvement of working conditions (lack of storage and internal logistics of coal, lower dust loads). The implementation of the project will support sustainable and energy-efficient production in the context of rising energy resource prices, by reducing the energy intensity and carbon footprint of "Ergodesign" Ltd. The investment is in line with the objectives of procedure BG16RFPR001-2.004 and the priorities of the European Union for green transformation and climate neutrality.
