The current project proposal envisages investments in energy efficiency through implementation of the following activities: construction of a photovoltaic power plant, consist of photovoltaic panels, three-phase hybrid inverters, and batteries - local energy storage facilities within the storage facility (warehouse 1) of RIACOM 2009 EOOD at a single location - in Gurmazovo, Bozhurishte municipality, Sofia region. The implementation of these investments helps meet several strategically important needs for the company: - reduction of operating costs and promotion of optimal use of energy from renewable energy sources in the company's energy mix; - implementing energy-efficient industrial solutions to facilitate internal integration and sustainable development of the company and overall increase the competitiveness of the micro-enterprise. At present, RIACOM has limited capacity to efficiently utilise its own storage facilities. Thus, the company relies on external logistics operators for the storage of raw materials such as casein, caseinates, dry milk, and others, which it trades in wholesale. This results in challenges such as: - high operating costs for storage; - dependence on achieving control over the appropriate microclimate for storing raw materials; - reduced efficiency and flexibility (especially during demand fluctuations) and limits on scaling deliveries and process of larger quantities of raw materials, all of which impact profit margins. With the implementation of the project investments (construction and installation of a photovoltaic power plant), the company will take over the storage activity itself, which will allow better control and significantly reduce operating costs, including energy costs; it will achieve increased profitability thanks to the newly built energy infrastructure.
