“ART STONE DESIGN” Ltd. is a manufacturing enterprise classified under NACE 23.70 – cutting, shaping, and finishing of building and ornamental stone materials. At its own production base in Lovech, the company manufactures marble, granite, and limestone products, including countertops, stairs, façade claddings, and architectural elements. The production process is energy-intensive, characterized by distinct daytime peaks caused by the operation of CNC machining centers, bridge and polishing machines, compressors, water pumps, lifting equipment, and HVAC systems. The company currently operates a limited PV installation that covers only a small portion of its actual electricity consumption and does not ensure effective self-consumption. To improve energy efficiency and reduce dependence on the grid, the project proposes the construction of a photovoltaic power plant (PVPP) for self-consumption, comprising a hybrid inverter with a capacity of 55 kW (AC), a PV array, and a battery storage system with a total capacity at least equal to the DC power of the PV system (kWh ≥ kW DC). The system will be integrated through an Energy/Battery Management System (EMS/BMS) to ensure priority self-consumption, peak-shaving during start-up and load peaks, and zero-export operation (no reverse feed to the grid). Expected results: - Commissioned PVPP with inverter capacity of 55 kW (AC), battery storage, and EMS/BMS integration; - Increased share of self-consumed energy and reduction of grid import by over 30%; - Stabilized electricity supply for critical machines and reduced production downtime; - Reduced indirect CO₂ emissions and contribution to the Green Transition objectives; The project is fully consistent with the objectives of Procedure BG16RFPR001-2.004, contributing to enhanced energy efficiency, increased share of renewable energy sources (RES), and the sustainable development of SMEs in the priority Northwestern Region.
