"Ikono-Masoni" Ltd. is a Bulgarian company whose core business activity involves the production of corrugated cardboard and paperboard packaging for clients across various industries. The company operates within the manufacturing sector, which is characterized by high levels of energy consumption. Optimizing and managing energy costs is therefore of critical importance for the sustainable development of Ikono-Masoni Ltd., particularly in the context of global climate change and the increasing pressure to decarbonize business operations in line with European and national environmental policies. The activities under this project address key challenges related to identifying sustainable solutions for energy cost optimization and carbon footprint reduction. Within the project framework, the company plans to construct a 50 kW photovoltaic power plant for renewable energy generation for self-consumption, as well as to install local energy storage systems (battery units) with a capacity of no less than 50.0 kWh. These facilities will be situated on the company’s own premises – the production site where its main operations are carried out, located in Dobrich, Dobrich Municipality, Dobrich Region. The overall objective of the project is to enhance the company’s energy efficiency and support its sustainable development through the implementation of renewable energy generation and storage solutions for in-house use. The execution of these activities will ensure stable and environmentally friendly electricity generation to meet the company’s operational needs, thereby reducing its dependence on external energy suppliers and mitigating the effects of fluctuations in energy markets. Through the successful implementation of this project, Ikono-Masoni Ltd. will achieve sustainable growth in key areas that currently constrain its competitiveness and slow down its transition towards a low-carbon and resource-efficient business model.
