Mineralcommerce AD is a manufacturing enterprise with core activity under code 20.13 “Manufacture of other inorganic basic chemicals.” The company is the only producer of amorphous silicon dioxide on the Balkan Peninsula and manufactures amorphous SiO₂ and sodium silicate (water glass). Given the technological processes requiring constant and precise temperature control, the project envisages the implementation of three air-to-water heat pumps (50.4 kW each, SCOP ≥ 3.5) for heating water up to 60–70 °C at the production site, while the existing gas boiler/steam system will cover the high-temperature stage from approximately 70 to ~140 °C when technologically required. The system will ensure stable temperature regimes in critical stages, lower specific electricity consumption, and reduced fuel use. The project falls thematically within sector 20.13 under NACE.BG-2008 and directly serves the energy needs of the production facility in Stara Zagora. The largest energy expenditure is related to maintaining set temperatures in the technological water circuits and heat exchangers, which leads to increased electricity consumption during peak loads. Through two-stage heating—heat pumps for the 10–70 °C range and a gas boiler for high-temperature processes—the aim is to reduce specific energy consumption, stabilize technological parameters, and enhance competitiveness. Project implementation will support sustainable and energy-efficient production in the context of rising electricity and natural gas prices by reducing energy intensity and the carbon footprint. The project is consistent with the objectives of procedure BG16RFPR001-2.004 and with the European Union’s priorities for green transition and climate neutrality.
