Small businesses, of which the current candidate is a representative, play a key role in the development of the Bulgarian economy. They are a source of job creation, additional added value and new business ideas, including those related to reducing the carbon footprint of their activities. In this regard, the implementation of targeted efforts to support the transition of SMEs to climate neutrality through the implementation of investments aimed at increasing energy efficiency and introducing renewable energy technologies into enterprises, becomes a mandatory factor on the path to their sustainable development and is a prerequisite for creating a competitive, low-carbon and sustainable economy. Support for energy-efficient technologies and the use of renewable energy will help enterprises maintain their competitiveness and continue to implement their investment intentions. In support of the above, with this project the applicant intends to implement activities to improve its energy efficiency by making investments in energy-efficient equipment, energy-efficient insulation systems and energy-saving lighting, according to the eligible technologies specified in the "List of eligible asset categories in the field of energy efficiency and the use of energy from renewable sources" (Annex 4.1 to the Conditions for Application). As a result of the successful implementation of the project and the targeted support received, the applicant will improve its energy efficiency, which in turn will contribute both to increasing the competitiveness and reducing the energy intensity of the enterprise, and to the country's economy as a whole. In a more global aspect, the investments made in improving energy efficiency will contribute to achieving the general cumulative target for energy savings for the period 2021-2030, set out in the Integrated Energy and Climate Plan of the Republic of Bulgaria.
