The current project proposal envisages the introduction of renewable energy sources (RES) into the operations of a small company operating in a heavy sector such as "Collection and processing of inorganic waste." Darkomet Ltd operates in the Sofia region, with its main activities related to the collection and primary processing (before recycling and disposal) of industrial inorganic waste. The company owns a facility located in Pirdop, equipped with machinery and equipment for sorting, crushing, removal of hazardous substances, and preparation for recycling or disposal at specialized facilities across the country. The equipment used by the enterprise includes low-tech and energy-intensive machinery, including mills for grinding various materials, shredders, sieves, separating and lifting equipment. To improve energy efficiency and increase the economic impact of the company's activities, investments are needed to introduce RES technologies that will reduce the burden of high energy prices on the final product cost. The project proposes the installation of an 80 kW photovoltaic power plant on the roof space of a building, part of Darkomet Ltd's facility. For flexible management of the energy flow and extending the efficiency of the plant, a battery storage system with a capacity of 100 kWh will be provided. The system will supply RES energy during daylight hours and provide the opportunity to store unused energy for later use in the work process. The project will be implemented in Pirdop within 12 months.
