The project proposal envisages investments in the energy modernisation of the production facility of “Plama Chemicals” Ltd. in Pleven. It combines energy efficiency measures in the building stock, including own-generation of electricity from a renewable source to cover part of the internal consumption in the main activity (NACE Rev. 2: 20.30): - installation of an energy-efficient roof thermal-insulation system made of sandwich panels on the production building. The measure reduces heat losses, improves the indoor microclimate and lowers the energy required for heating/cooling, without changing the purpose or capacity of the building; - construction of a photovoltaic (PV) system for self-consumption. The installation will reduce electricity purchases from the grid and the exposure to price volatility. The project accelerates the transition to climate neutrality and reduces the energy intensity of “Plama Chemicals” Ltd.’s production. The selected investments are solely from the List of Eligible Categories of Assets and will be used within the applicant’s core activity, with implementation in a single category region on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria. The project complies with the horizontal principles under Art. 9 of Regulation (EU) 2021/1060 and the “Do No Significant Harm” (DNSH) principle, including a commitment to the recycling/disposal of PV components in line with the Waste Management Act. Given the nature of the investments, a positive environmental impact is expected without irreversible adverse effects, while ensuring compliance with climate-resilience requirements. The expected result is a measurable reduction in final energy consumption, an increased share of own green electricity generation and a sustained improvement in the enterprise’s competitiveness, in line with the quality criteria of the procedure.
