DEVIN - SHARLOPOV HOTELS Ltd. manages a SPA Hotel in the town of Devin. The complex has 8 single, 48 double rooms and 6 apartments, as well as a wide range of accompanying services - a modern SPA and balneological center, a restaurant, a conference hall, an indoor, outdoor and therapeutic mineral pool. The hotel is characterized by high energy consumption due to the large volume of services provided - heating and cooling of rooms and pools, maintaining a constant temperature in the SPA area, functioning of kitchen and hotel equipment, as well as constant lighting of the common areas and outdoor areas. A photovoltaic power plant with an installed capacity of 130 kWp has already been built on the site, which covers a significant part of the daily electricity consumption during sunny hours. However, due to a discrepancy between instantaneous production and actual consumption, part of the produced energy cannot be used effectively and is returned to the network at low purchase prices. Problems and needs: The main challenges faced by the hotel are related to: - Uneven energy consumption throughout the day – high consumption in the evening and low during the day; - Lack of possibility to store the produced solar energy; - Increased electricity costs during peak tariff hours; - Low efficiency of use of the available PV plant (part of the produced energy is not utilized); Need for investment: - Investment in local energy storage facilities (batteries with a capacity of 150 kW) will allow full use of the electricity produced by the PV plant. - The battery system will store excess energy during the day and feed it back to the hotel's internal network during peak consumption hours, which will reduce dependence on the electricity distribution network and reduce energy consumption by over 25%; - This solution will allow achieving higher energy efficiency, stability of energy supplies and better control over energy flows.
