The project proposal is aimed at improving the energy efficiency of “Pirinplast” AD through the purchase and commissioning of a new water-cooled chiller with a capacity of 200 kW. The company specializes in the manufacture of plastic products, including cutlery, polymer meshes, and polypropylene corrugated sheets. The existing cooling system, built in 1989, is morally and physically obsolete and no longer provides the necessary parameters for the efficient operation of the extrusion lines. As a result, production processes are carried out at higher-than-optimal temperatures (12–13°C), leading to reduced productivity and increased energy consumption. With the implementation of the project, the worn-out equipment will be replaced with a modern, energy-efficient chiller capable of supplying a cooling agent at temperatures down to –8°C, which will improve the cooling of the extrusion lines and result in higher efficiency, lower energy consumption, and improved product quality. The target group of the project is “Pirinplast” AD – a medium-sized enterprise aiming to modernize and optimize the energy efficiency of its production processes by reducing energy load and achieving greater resilience to energy cost fluctuations. The project activities will be implemented at the company’s production facility in Gotse Delchev and will comply with the horizontal principles under Article 9 of Regulation (EU) No. 2021/1060, including the requirements for “Do No Significant Harm” (DNSH) to the environment. As a result of the project implementation, “Pirinplast” AD will improve its energy efficiency in several key areas: - Reduction of the specific electricity consumption per unit of output; - Optimization of production costs and enhancement of the company’s competitiveness; - Reduction of the carbon footprint through more efficient energy use and decreased water consumption.
