Description

Project of “GiS Transport” Ltd. aims at a comprehensive improvement of the energy efficiency and environmental performance of the tourist facility “Karandila 2” mountain hut by replacing the obsolete solid-fuel (coal) heating with high-efficiency air-to-water heat pumps and installing a heat-recovery ventilation system for the restaurant and kitchen areas. The hut is categorized as a tourist accommodation facility, comprising 24 guest rooms and a restaurant (tourist snack bar) with an area of approximately 150 m² and 70 seats. The current heating system is inefficient and polluting, while the existing extraction is old and has no heat recovery, functioning mainly as an exhaust system without energy recovery.
The project includes:
Procurement and installation of 8 air-to-water heat pumps, 23 kW each, in line with Annex 4.1, Group 2 “Heat Pumps.” Minimum seasonal efficiency SCOP ≥ 3.5; refrigerant compliant with Regulation (EU) No 517/2014.
Deployment of a balanced heat-recovery ventilation system for the restaurant and kitchen, in line with Annex 4.1, Group 5 “Heat-recovery units for heating, ventilation and cooling,” with a minimum temperature efficiency ≥ 73%. The system provides energy conservation and recovery through heat exchange between exhaust and supply air and includes a heat-recovery unit, air intakes/outlets, ductwork, and controls to pre-heat the fresh air using the recovered heat.
The project foresees new equipment, purchased under market conditions from independent suppliers, and implementation in accordance with the Managing Authority’s unit-cost methodology.
Expected impact: substantial reduction of energy consumption and greenhouse-gas emissions, elimination of coal use, improved indoor microclimate, and lower operating costs. The project complies with the “Do No Significant Harm” (DNSH) principle, EU horizontal policies, and Specific Objective RSO2.1 of the Cohesion Programme “Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises (PCIE) 2021–2027.”
