Description

The project proposal of “Pirin Sport Bulgaria” Ltd. aims to improve the energy efficiency and reduce the energy consumption of two retail sites operated by the company — located in Sandanski and Bansko. The company’s main business activity is the retail trade of sports goods, apparel, footwear, and accessories, serving a wide range of sports including football, swimming, skiing, and mountain tourism. The facilities operate year-round and require continuous heating, cooling, and lighting, which leads to high energy demand and operating costs.

At the site in Sandanski, a new 40 kW photovoltaic system will be installed and used entirely for self-consumption, providing clean and renewable electricity to reduce dependence on the grid and increase energy autonomy. Additionally, two new air-to-water heat pumps, each with a capacity of 16 kW, will be installed to provide efficient and sustainable heating and cooling for the retail premises.

At the site in Bansko, the project includes the replacement of two old, worn-out air-to-water heat pumps with new high-efficiency models. The existing windows and doors will be replaced with 50 sq.m of new aluminum joinery with a thermal break, improving the building’s insulation and reducing heat losses. Furthermore, 50 energy-efficient LED lighting fixtures (high-bay/projector type, 70 W each) will be installed to replace outdated, energy-intensive lights.

The implementation of the project will lead to a comprehensive improvement of the energy performance of both sites, a reduction in electricity consumption and carbon emissions, and the creation of a more sustainable, environmentally responsible retail environment.
