The purpose of the project proposal is targeted support for protection of intellectual property at the Institute of Microbiology-BAS as a result of obtaining new knowledge, innovative and technological developments. The objectives are: 1) concluding a contract with an industrial property representative; 2) filing an application for two national patents (NP) and three utility models (UM) in the field of application "green technologies and resource efficiency"; 3) extension of the registration period of one UM; 4) Reimbursement of the costs of one UM; 5) deposit of strains of microorganisms according to the Budapest Treaty. Green technologies will find application in developing of preparation with antifungal activity through the use of "green" fungicides; research into the composition of combined plant extracts, as well as the development of a method for their alternative production based on plant in vitro systems, so-called "green cell factories"; the preparation of functional formulas based on pro/post and metabiotics; development of a 3D-printed replicator for multiple replication of bacterial colonies; a means for processing waste biosludge for the purpose of cultivating microalgae; preparation of new nanocomposite carbon materials with antibacterial effect.
The expected impact is creation of a waste-free technology for sustainable agriculture; creation of a sustainable biotechnology platform for the continuous production of secondary metabolites of plant origin with beneficial effects; study composition of combined plant extracts with an effect on autoimmune joint-degenerative disorders; development of biotics from Bulgarian strains of lactic acid bacteria to correct microecological disorders in the microbiome; providing high-throughput screening for isolating producers of antibacterial substances; facilitating the processes of accumulation of microalgal biomass; creating new materials with increased antibacterial effect based on nanocomposite carbon materials.
