Programme: Recovery and Resilience Plan

IChE-BAS conducts research in the fields of chemical, biochemical and systems engineering in the following main areas:
- developing innovative green processes and improving their efficiency and sustainability for energy production, recovery of valuable substances or removal of pollutants from wastewater and gases;
- optimal design and management of sustainable chemical and biochemical production systems and resource supply chains;
- biotechnologies for the removal of pollutants and the production of biofuels and products with wide applications;
- production of valuable bioactive products for pharmaceutical, cosmetic and nutraceutical applications. 
The activities are carried out in workplaces that are in serious need of adaptation to modern working conditions, such as adequate lighting, temperature and minimization of exposure to harmful substances. The main issues addressed by the project proposal are:
1. the risk of scientists being exposed to harmful dust due to worn and deteriorated internal surfaces of the premises;
2. depreciated and inefficient air coolers;
3. insufficient heating capacity and problems in the de-aeration of the heating system;
4. low efficient lighting and damaged luminaire.  
The aim of the project proposal is to improve and modernize the working conditions at the IChE-BAS, in line with the overall objective of the program. It is implemented through the execution of operations for the internal renovation of the working premises and the purchase of equipment to improve working conditions.
The results are the provision of a renovated and safe working environment, while reducing heat and electricity consumption. They contribute to the intended results of the program and lead to an increase in the innovation capacity of BAS in the field of green technologies, by improving working conditions.
