Description

Photographic exhibition by visual artist Artur Neznanov (Germany)

The project “Digital Graffiti” presents the photographic work of visual artist Artur Neznanov from Germany, created over four years. During this period, he collected abandoned and damaged vacuum cleaners from the streets of Berlin, repaired them and filmed them in stylized photo shoots. Each vacuum cleaner is presented in a different visual context - from mystical and provocative to gentle or humorous. The photos are uploaded to online platforms for selling second-hand goods, thus the project explores the boundaries between art, consumption and the reuse of objects.
The exhibition was shown for the first time in 2022 in Leipzig and is now planned to be presented in three Bulgarian cities: Sofia, Plovdiv, Veliko Tarnovo. A restored 13-meter Kremikov bus, imported to Bulgaria from the USA, where it was used to transport prisoners, was chosen for the exhibition space. Transformed into a mobile gallery, the bus adds an additional layer to the project’s themes — new life for the forgotten, reuse, an alternative view of objects and their value. The space where the old is not waste, but an opportunity; where aesthetics prevails over consumerism; where memory is transformed into art.
The project’s goal is to reach a wide audience outside of big cities and traditional exhibition spaces, as well as to raise questions related to consumption, sustainability, the role of art and our relationship to the material. “Digital Graffiti” is not just an exhibition. It is a gesture of resistance against the cult of fast fashion, against the constant discarding of value and meaning. It is an invitation to the viewer to stop, look, question and — perhaps — breathe new life into their own perception.
