Programme: Recovery and Resilience Plan

The project proposal "Increasing the Capacity for Project Activity of Scientists at the Institute for Historical Studies – BAS under Horizon Europe in the Digital Humanities" aims to accelerate the internationalization and participation of the Institute for Historical Research in the European Research Area by building sustainable scientific networks and specifically improving the project competence of the internationally active scientific staff of the unit.
Activity 1 will involve three short-term scientific visits (up to eight days each), with working meetings at leading European organizations in digital humanities with experience in applying for and managing successful European scientific programs. The result will be the creation of at least two scientific networks/collectives and agreed partnerships for future consortia and application submissions.
Activity 2 plans to provide expert consulting support for the development and/or refinement of project proposals for application for large ERC research grants under Horizon Europe (ERC Starting, Consolidator, Advanced, and Synergy Grants) by a leading European entity with many years of experience in this specialized activity.
The overall expected impact of the project proposal includes expanded targeted international partnerships, higher innovation and project potential in the digital transformation of humanities. It also includes a sustainably increased capacity of the Institute for Historical Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences to successfully apply for and participate in Horizon Europe (including ERC and MSCA) and other European scientific programs, as well as a launched process for the preparation of at least one project proposal in digital humanities field under Horizon Europe.
