Vehicle traffic is inevitable and supplementing phenomena of modern urban life. Traffic has a direct impact over sustainable urban development and citizens’ daily routines in various aspects. Those are road safety, air quality, traffic congestion, infrastructure and city planning, economic development, and others. Spatial modeling and data availability and especially real time data would help informative decisions to be taken as well dedicated policies development toward optimization, control, and traffic management in order its negative impact reduction and quality of life and sustainable and ecological development improvement.
Traffic data would be helpful in assessing the technical and transport infrastructure as well as modern urban environment development.
Through data analysis about traffic incidents density, municipality administrations would be able to take adequate measures in order for traffic incidents decrease based on more effective control, prevention, and technical infrastructure development.
The research objective is to develop integral databases for the purpose of spatial model development of the traffic in the city of Sofia.
With regard to objective achievement, the following activities are set: 1. Traffic analysis in spatial temporal aspect. 2. Retrieved data processing. 3. Spatial modeling in ArcGIS Dashboard. 4. Vehicle traffic analysis. 5. Proposals and directions for development.
Retrieved data will be integrated into ArcGIS Pro. Through cartography method usage data will be visualized over map data canvas as vector layer. Data layer will be visualized by qualitative and quantitative aspects via respective tools. Data will be put under spatial-temporal analysis. In ArcGIS Pro Dashboard data will be processed and presented in graphical and tabular formats.
Present research in practice would enable local effective policies development.
