With the present project Samokov municipality will carry out restoration of forests damaged by biotic factors (coroded trees), namely by:
1. Cleaning the areas
2. Soil preparation - Terraces
3. Purchase of sheltered material with closed root system
4.Transport and temporary storage of saplings
5. Afforestation
The forest areas that will be afforested are owned by the municipality of Samokov and are managed by the municipal enterprise "Municipal Forestry - Samokov". According to the developed technological plans, the reforestation will use a material with a closed root system. The candidate - municipality of Samokov fully corresponds to the eligible candidates under the present procedure because it is a municipality from a rural area, falls in an area with high fire risk and a high degree of erosion. The properties that are foreseen for afforestation have a high degree of damage to the forest potential and have a large slope. It is envisaged to use local tree species for afforestation. Saplings that will be used for afforestation will be with a closed root system, which will contribute to less saplings and less cost for cultivating the newly created crop.
