The current investment project envisages the construction of a cultivated black sea shell in the area of Kavarna bay, Kavarna, based on innovative technology, patented by the Norwegian company Smart Farm AS, thanks to which the production of mussels is easier and more profitable than traditional production. The farm is a floating structure with flexible, abrasion-free floating lines and suitably positioned uninterruptible collectors (33) whose buoyancy is achieved by buoys at the edges and the rigidity of the line is provided by pairs of metal anchors at the edges. This type of construction ensures easy maintenance and quick repairs at low cost. The farm has an all-year round of work, two full-time workers are planned to be set up after the construction. The annual production, based on the average yield from the collector network (12000 kg per collector net, according to the scheme) amounts to 396 tonnes per year. Black clam (Mytilus Galloprovincialis) is a divisional organism in which the discarded genital products are fertilized externally, the formed larva leads a planktonic lifestyle and is driven by the water currents looking for a comfortable substrate for grip, such as the collectors of the mussel farm. In this regard, the installed line collectors are essentially also investments in the reproduction-production process, as during the spring-autumn propagation period on their surface is caught a valerian larva (spat), which subsequently grows to mussels of the desired commercial size. This project proposal also provides for the introduction and certification of standards for safe working conditions.
