Nomicom-Fish is one of the largest manufacturers of freshwater aquaculture products in Bulgaria. Nomicom-Fish Ltd. has been operating in the fishery and aquaculture fields for more than 30 years.
Nomicom-fish Ltd. develops fish production in accordance with the Joint Activity Agreement No ID-313/10 of 12.05.2010 signed with NEK EAD.
The main subject of the joint activity is the establishment and maintenance of sustainable fish populations with a certain species variety and ratio between species, which contributes to the improvement of the ecological condition of the water bodies. The quality of the water used in the cooling systems of TPP Maritsa East 2 is essential for the normal functioning of the plant. Nomicom-Fish Ltd., through systematic observations of the current hydrochemical and hydrobiological condition in the water body, determines what is needed and plans the stocking of the two dams. The aim is to prevent eutrophication due to the accumulation of nutrients. In this direction, from the very beginning, work has been done with herbivorous fish species as effective bioameliorators. After 2000, as a result of the invasion of the zebra mussel (Dreissena polymorpha), stocking with grass carp (Mylopharyngodon piceus) – a molluscophage, a natural regulator of mussel populations, is of particular importance.
The activity of "Nomicom-fish" Ltd. Company in "Ovcharitsa" dam and "Byal Kladenets" dam is carried out in accordance with the specific requirements for the management of Natura 2000 protected areas, within the scope of which the reservoirs fall. The technological and investment program of the company is fully consistent with the specific needs of the environment and the restrictions in the designated protected areas, as a result of which the company suffers a significant loss of production income.
