Seasonality of Polish vegetable production is characteristic of Bulgaria due to the climatic conditions. The goal of greenhouse production is to supply fresh vegetables to the population all year round. Greenhouse vegetables produced in winter and early spring are a relatively rich source of vitamins, mineral salts and other nutrients. In recent years, with the establishment of market relations in the Bulgarian economy, greenhouse production has taken its place and the consumption of fresh vegetables has gradually increased in the winter and spring season.
Large greenhouses lost much of their market niche during the restructuring period.
The largest share in the structure of the undertakings concerned is the greenhouses built in the early 1970s. Currently, the total volume of covered greenhouse areas in Bulgaria is around 5,000 acres, but they produce products that are marketed along with the production of polyethylene greenhouses, which reduces their profitability.
One of the distinguishing features of this industry is the need to pledge early production, which initially had a higher rate of investment but also a better price in international markets.
The project under consideration aims to maximize the efficiency of production and to achieve a time structure that meets Greek and Turkish analogues and quality that meets European standards.
The technical equipment is modern, meeting the international veterinary and sanitary requirements. Since Bulgaria is already a member of the European Union, the European standards will be observed and controlled much more strictly. By receiving the funds for the investment and the implementation of the Chernikovi project, EOOD will be a company that meets the new standards.
